An email sent from City Councilor Sam Yoon’s office (email edited for clarity):

Dear Friends,
During this holiday season, Alexander Phan is a 4-year old of Vietnamese heritage who is in desperate need of your help. In June Alexander became ill and was hospitalized at Children’s Hospital. He was diagnosed with the rare disease Hemophagocytic lymphpohistiocytosis (HLH). This is a life threatening disease and he needs a bone marrow transplant in order to survive. A match was not found in his family.
Alexander has a 6 year old brother and a baby sister. His parents are wonderful people. His father works with Special Needs students at the Murphy School in Dorchester. Both Alex and his brother attended the Ellison-Parks School. Unfortunately, only people of Asian Pacific Islanders’ heritage can help him. If you are willing and is able to help, please be at the Dorchester Bone Narrow Drive:
Date: December 20, 2008
Time: Saturday at 10am – 2pm
Location: St. Mark Church 1725 Dorchester Avenue

If you cannot make it on this date, no worries; there will be another drive in Chinatown in January. Please let me know if you are interested in the January one and I will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Natalie Nguyen
