BRA: Nominations for the Harrison-Albany Corridor Strategic Plan (South End) Advisory Group

Below is an email sent by the Boston Redevelopment Authority seeking nominations for  the Harrison-Albany Corridor Strategic Plan Advisory Group. Chinatown and  the South End share overlapping boundaries in the Harrison-Albany Street area. The Chinatown Neighborhood Council boundary extends south of Marginal Road/Turnpike to East Berkeley Street. The Harrison-Albany Street area includes the former Boston Herald building.

———————————————————————————-

The Boston Redevelopment Authority (“BRA”) is seeking nominations from property owners, business owners, institutions, residents, and community organizations to serve on an Advisory Group (“AG”) for the Harrison-Albany Corridor Strategic Plan.

The AG will assist the BRA and other City agencies in creating a long-term vision for the area, analyzing land use and urban design, studying transportation and infrastructure, designing development alternatives, and identifying economic development potential. We anticipate the working sessions will be held monthly, with the first meeting taking place sometime in early February 2009. Nominees must commit to a twelve-month process.

In order to ensure fair and equitable representation of the community’s many constituents, nominations are being sought from a wide variety of stakeholders. Newspaper ads are also being placed in the South End News, the Boston Courant, and the Sampan. It is anticipated that between 9 and 13 members will be appointed to the AG by Mayor Thomas M. Menino. We ask that you submit three nominations if you are nominating for an organization or larger entity.

Nominations should include the name of the individual, his or her street address, e-mail address (if available), and any affiliation to businesses, neighborhood organizations or institutions.  Each submission should also include a statement as to how this person would be qualified to serve on the AG.

Nominations should be sent to:
Sue Kim, Senior Planner III
Boston Redevelopment Authority
One City Hall Square, 9th Floor
Boston, MA 02201
By 5:00 PM on January 9, 2009

Nominations will also be accepted by email or fax
Sue.Kim.BRA@cityofboston.gov and fax 617.367.6087.

After the submission deadline, nominations will be presented to Mayor Menino for consideration. The AG appointees will be notified by telephone or mail. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Kim at 617.918.4418 or Inés Palmarín at 617.918.4434 and Ines.Palmarin.BRA@cityofboston.gov. We look forward to working with the AG and the community on this exciting plan.

Sincerely,

Sue Kim, Senior Planner
