Selling Unlocked iPhones in Chinatown

Ever since the iPhone came out this time last year, hackers have been playing a cat and mouse game with Apple and AT&T to unlock the iPhones so the phones can be used on another network other than AT&T. An unlocked iPhone allows the owner to install 3rd party applications for the phone. However, unlocking will void the warranty.
So what does this have to do with Chinatown? Unlocked iPhones have become a niche market in some Chinatown stores. Wall Street analysts for both Apple and AT&T estimate that about roughly 20% of all sold iPhones end up being unlocked. We can assume that some of these end up in a shop like this on Tyler Street:

Thats right. . . but will it unlock have a look at this article on what there planning to protect the unlocking of new iphones. however in some countries its illegal to do.. read the comments
